Gouveia Vineyards – A Fun Place In Wallingford, CT

Article by: “Wining With Sue”

Gouveia Vineyards…this must be the liveliest winery we have visited to date.    Gouveia is a fun place that is less about wine tasting and more about enjoying the local wine with friends and family.  This winery had more groups of people enjoying the wine and company.  Since they don’t sell food here, people bring their own snacks from simple cheese and crackers to full dinners.    It’s a lively atmosphere without being loud.

I of course did a wine tasting so that I could let you know what I thought of their wine.   Wine tastings are $7 for 5 tastings.    Four of the wines are pre chosen and the fifth is your choice.  The four choices were Seyval Blanc which was tart yet fruity, Stone House White which I found way too sweet, Cabernet Franc which was very good, Stone House Red which was delicious. My choice to try was the Merlot which was good.  Our favorite was the Stone House Red which is $6 per glass and $20 per bottle.

Gouveia Winery

Gouveia is a great winery and a great way to spend an afternoon or evening.  On many Saturday evenings they have music.   For more information and hours of operation, visit them at Gouveiavineyards.com or like them on Facebook.  We can’t wait to go back and share this fun place with family and friends!
